Metal Hardware Finishes
-
While the materials we use for our webbing and cord (like PawTex® and Paracord) are essential, they are only as strong as the fittings that hold them together. We never compromise on safety, reliability, or longevity—that's why we use only heavy-duty metal hardware designed for performance.
-
Our hardware is not an afterthought—it's selected for its high-grade materials, superior structural integrity, and resistance to environmental damage, ensuring maximum reliability for your finished product.
Core Components We Focus On:
Core Metal (Zinc Alloy or Solid Brass): We start with top-quality metals like Zinc Alloy or Solid Brass. These materials provide exceptional strength and rigidity, ensuring that the hardware won't bend or snap under stress, offering a reliable backbone for your gear.
Finish and Coating (Electroplating or Powder Coating): To protect the metal and enhance its look, we use advanced finishing processes like Electroplating or Powder Coating. The application of this tough, specialized finish ensures the hardware is smooth, attractive, and highly durable against moisture, scratches, and the elements.
Structural Integrity (Thick Gauge & Welded Joints): We prioritize robust construction by selecting hardware with a Thick Gauge (robust thickness). Furthermore, for critical load-bearing pieces like D-rings, we choose fittings with welded seams to eliminate potential weak points and ensure maximum security.
-
We select our metal fittings based on their proven ability to handle real-world conditions, giving you peace of mind:
🛡️ Superior Corrosion Resistance: Our chosen materials and finishes are highly resistant to rust, tarnish, and corrosion, even after repeated exposure to saltwater, snow, or rain.
💪 Reliable Strength: Every piece is chosen to complement the strength of our webbing (PawTex® or Paracord), ensuring the entire product system is reliable and safe.
🧊 Cold Weather Integrity: Unlike some plastics that can become brittle, our metal hardware maintains its structural integrity and strength in extreme cold.
✨ Long-Lasting Appearance: The high-quality plating and coating not only protect the metal but also keep the hardware looking clean and polished, resisting chipping and fading.
⚙️ Smooth Function: Our snap hooks and buckles are selected for their reliable, smooth operation, ensuring quick, secure connections every time.
-
We offer both solid materials and plated finishes to give you the best combination of style and strength for your gear. Please note the following regarding our plated options:
Solid Metals (e.g., Stainless Steel, Solid Brass): These materials are non-plated and are designed to retain their structure and color through heavy use. Brass may naturally patina (darken) over time, which many consider desirable.
Plated Finishes (Rose Gold, Gun-Metal Grey, Neo-Chrome): These vibrant finishes are created by bonding a layer of color onto the base metal. While durable, all plated hardware is subject to cosmetic wear and tear. Factors such as saltwater exposure, abrasive friction (rubbing against other hardware), and frequent washing will accelerate the natural process of the plating wearing down, leading to the underlying metal color showing through.
This fading or color loss over time is normal for plated finishes and is not considered a defect.
