Why I Started Ponies & Pups

I've spent my whole life surrounded by horses and dogs—and just as long being frustrated by gear that couldn't keep up. Muddy walks, stinky leads, leather that cracked after one wet winter, rope that frayed after a few groundwork sessions... I knew there had to be a better way. So I created it. From my workshop in East Sussex, I handcraft every collar, lead, and rope using premium BioThane® and rope that's waterproof, stink-proof, and built to outlast anything else in your tack room or dog walk bag. What started as a solution for my own crew—my Chestnut Mare, Patsy, and my three dogs (Lily, Milo, and the camera-shy Jessie!)—quickly became something other horse and dog owners wanted too.

More Than Just a Maker

Crafting has always been my escape. There's something deeply satisfying about working with my hands, learning new skills, and creating something beautiful that actually works. When I discovered how Paracord braiding and premium coated webbing could create colourful, durable, easy-to-clean gear, I was absolutely hooked. Suddenly, I could combine my love of horses and dogs with my passion for making—and solve a problem I'd been living with for years. But here's what really drives me: I don't just want to make gear that works. I want to make gear that makes you smile. Because whether you're perfecting your horse's groundwork or tackling the muddiest trails with your pup, you deserve equipment that's as joyful as it is reliable.
